All about ceiling

Posted by Me at 6:49 AM 0 comments
This time is all about our ceiling.
Yep.. we decided to do plaster ceiling :)

Our contractor suggested we did a L box as most of his customers prefered it.
But after a lot of thinking... we decided against it.
Mainly because it will cause our ceiling to be too low.
Instead we decided on a simple one.

Here is what we chose :)

Our cornice looks like this..

Our Corners & Beadings...

For the dome, we chose this...

And finally for the centre piece, we chose...

We went to the house today to visit and the plaster ceiling team were busy doing it.
Honestly I am quite happy with our choice.
The place looks really nice :)
Can't wait for it to be all done!!

The finished ceiling... will look something like this...

This is how our fan will look like in the living/dining room :)
large-alphav8-ab1
And for our lights... we decided to use downlight!
Something that looks like this... (can't find the exact one)
(minus the glass cover)

And here is our chandelier...
(ok.. it doesn't look very clear)
... but it will look something like this :)

Hmm...once the plaster ceiling is done, will call the kitchen cabinet ppl to come measure our kitchens so we can finally get them to work on it too.

Ohhh... sooo exciting !!!

Anakku Merdeka Contest

Posted by Me at 9:54 AM 2 comments

Kami bangga menjadi anak Malaysia kerana.... "walaupun berbilang bangsa dan agama, kita senantiasa hidup dengan aman dan makmur"

This is soooo true for me and I also hope so for my kids.
My hubby is a Chinese and I myself am a Malaysian born Filipino from Sabah.
I grew up in a kampung where all my friends were mainly the natives and malays.
Despite us being of different race and religion, we all lived harmoniously.
We ate together, we played together. We practically lived our lives together!!
We love and respect each other so much.
I have 3 best friends back home. One malay, one kadazan and one iban. And me, a filipino.
We still keep in close touch until now :)
Lovely isn't it?

When I came to KL, my friends are mostly chinese.
At work, most of my colleagues were Indians from India!
But my best friend here is a malay. She's the bestest of all friend ... love ya babe !!!

So you see... we are really sooo lucky that everyone can really live in such a harmonious country. I myself am so glad to be born a Malaysian.
I was given the chance to move overseas. To migrate to US.
But my heart is here.
Am truly a Malaysian !!

And check out my Little G, who is 4yr by the way ...

... dengan megahnya dia mengibarkan jalur gemilang negara kita yang tercinta!!!

And yes, he is in my car !! He actually asked me to wind down the window so he could fly the flag. He was so happy and kept shouting "MERDEKA!! MERDEKA!!!"
Adorable isn't it? Look at his cheeky smile. Hehehe.

Anyway, if you'd like to join this contest, you still can.

I love crochet!
I can't remember the last time I tried doing it.

But too my dismay, I was NOT good at it.
Kakakaka.
So I accepted the fact that I can excel in SOME things but not ALL things !!

I especially love the cup holders my Mom used to make.

The Coasters.

The table cloth she did.
And so.. it reminded of all this when I saw this...

Yep...

I hope I am the luck y one.

But if I am not, at least it was fun to join :)

Parenthots : Mum's Story Contest

Posted by Me at 6:30 AM 0 comments
Was browsing thru the internet and saw this contest.
I just had to share my experience.
I may NOT win, but at least I get to share it with everyone.
Read on ....

I still remember it clearly. My son's school teacher called me up to say that my son had a little accident in school. She assured us it was nothing but asked us to come over as he was crying. Hubby and I were together doing some last minute CNY shopping as we were leaving next morning for our yearly chinese new year reunion dinner.

We rushed to school and on the way, I called his teacher to ask if I could talk to my son. She said she didn't think it was a good idea. His hand was in pain and he was crying. My heart stop a beat when I heard the word "HAND". I asked her.. "Is it his left or right hand?" .. and she answered LEFT. I cried aloud. Tears of frustration and fears came rolling down while I told hubby, "It's his LEFT HAND!!".

We got to the school and the guards ushered us to the main office. I ran leaving my husband behind. I couldn't wait to see my son. There he was sitting and crying. Beside him his teacher, the headmistress, some teachers and voluntary uncles. One uncle went "Aiya... you ah !! That's your son??" ... I bit my lips and just ran to my son.

There he was with his left hand .. and my deepest fear were confirmed. He fractured his arm!! Yes.. he fractured his arm AGAIN!! And not just AGAIN... but for the 3rd time !!!

I quickly grabbed my baby napkin in my bag and folded it into a triangle and made into a sling. Third time experiences.

He had surgery AGAIN! Waking up in the OT, he said "Thank you Mommy for taking care of me ...AGAIN". I kiss his forehead & cried as he dozed off.

Carpe Diem

Posted by Me at 7:39 PM 0 comments

A friend of mine opened his wife's underwear drawer and
picked up a silk paper wrapped package:
'This, - he said - isn't any ordinary package.'

He unwrapped the box and stared at
both the silk paper and the box.

'She got this the first time we went to New York , 8 or 9 years ago.
She has never put it on , was saving it for a special occasion..
Well, I guess this is it.
He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other cl othing he was taking to the funeral house, his wife had just died.

He turned to me and said:
'Never save something for a special occasion.
EVERY day in your life is a special occasion'.

I still think those words changed my life.
Now I read more and clean less.
I sit on the porch without worrying about anything.
I spend more time with my family, and less at work..

I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived up to, not survived through.
I no longer keep anything. I use crystal glasses every day...
I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if i feel like it.

I don't save my special perfume for special occasions,
I use it whenever I want to.
The words 'Someday...' and ' One Day...'
are fading away from my dictionary.
If it's worth seeing, listening or doing,
I want to see, listen or do it now..
I don't know what my friend's wife would have
done if she knew she wouldn't be there the next morning, this nobody can tell.
I think she might have called her relatives and closest friends.
She might call old friends to make peace over past quarrels..
I'd like to think she would go out for Chinese, her favorite food.
It's these small things that I would
regret not doing, if I knew my time had come.
Each day, each hour,
each minute, is special. Live for today, for tomorrow is promised to no-one.

*** This was an email sent to me by a friend. It made me think.
And so am sharing it with all.
My NEW MOTTO now will be ...

Yep.. Carpe Diem!!
SEIZE THE DAY !!
... like there is NO TOMORROW :)
